12Greetings,

Well the days are getting longer, the weather yesterday and today is fantastic. I am stuck working in the hotel, so goes the story. I feel that I might as well get something creative done, so here goes. The work at the school has not slowed down yet, but the overtime will end abruptly in a few weeks when Gulli, the husvordur (caretaker ) comes back. I don't know what I will do with myself, I will have so much free time, LOOK OUT REYKJAVIK. The 1st weekend in March, the school hosted a school show, displays were set up from many companies showing off the latest technology to assist teachers and schools. Some really wild stuff, it was organized by the Dept. of  Education and was well attended. The foreigner(me) had to put up the flags, I though of slipping a Canadian one up the pole but did not want to get into trouble.

The weather has been really up and down, there was quite a bit of snow in early March and even a few days of rain, which made things really ICY. On the 5th, I was invited to accompany the salesman from Urval Utsyn Travel to Isafjordur, in the north west corner of Iceland. I could not pass on that kind of invitation. We were going to meet the group that I will be guiding in Minnesota, North Dakota and Manitoba this June. The group is called Sunnukor, the Sun Choir and I am getting excited about the opportunity. I was not able to see too much in Isafjordur as most of the time was spent in meetings and the days are still kind of short. I was able to have supper and a nice visit with my cousin Thordis and her family. There was a 1 hr delay in the return flight which from what I understand is pretty good, everyone was saying that I might get stuck there for a week or so because the airport is rather tricky to get into and out of so the weather plays a big factor. There was supposed to be a concert by a well known (In Iceland) musician Bubbi Mortens but he cancelled at the last minute because the weather forecast was not that good.

I am now working with the choir regarding concerts and activities will they are in the US and Canada in the middle of June. I would hope that I would get some feedback and/or assistance from you regarding the tour.

My art class is still progressing and I painted my first painting in a really long time. I think it turned out pretty good. I am hoping to do some more when I have time.

March 7 and 8th were another couple busy days. There was a quiz show  "Getur Betur" taped on the Friday afternoon. The competition was between the 2 biggest menntaskolas(junior colleges) in Reykjavik. Menntaskola Reykjavik and my school Menntaskola vid Hamrahlid. We lost but it was exciting to see. It sure was a lot of work for a 1 hour TV show. I think there was almost 1,000 people in the audience.

Last week, starting March 11th, I will have to call it mail week. Monday the 11th, I got 2 envelopes from Logberg containing papers. One paper was dated March 1st so that was pretty good time, but the other paper was dated Nov. 16th, 2001. There was no special markings on the envelope, so who knows where it has been. Tuesday the 12th, I finally received my package from my parents. It was mailed in early January, I guess it came on the slow boat?? Well at least I got it!! On Friday the 15th, I received another Logberg, dated the 8th of March, WOW>> It has been a crazy week so it is nice to get a piece of home to bring me up. On the 12th, I did not have to work late so I ended up car shopping with Erlendina, the teacher and had supper at her place. Barbequed lobster, yummy... It was a nice evening, another multi cultural night. Erlendina's mother is South African, her sister and her husband are here visiting. One of the organizers of the the Snorri, exchange program Asta, I think was also there with her mother and South African boy friend. Last night the 16th, I attended Arshatid, "Annual Ball" for the staff of MH, the school. It was an entertaining and interesting evening. The food was great and many different groups put on shows for the rest of us.

Well I hope the Thorablott in Arborg went well last night and in honor of it Villy and I are having a mini thorablott at his place tonight.

I also booked my trip to Minneapolis this week, for the Icelandic National League Convention in April. I will see many of you there and I am looking forward to the trip. Villy, the other bum of the 2Bums will also be making the journey. I was hoping to attend at least some of the conference that was held here in Reykjavik, at the University of Iceland but I was unable to get to it.
